About turbo rotor shaft
The rotor shaft, or shaft and wheel, is the turbine wheel friction-welded to the steel shaft that carries the compressor wheel at its far end. It spins at very high speed on the journal bearings, so straightness, balance and journal finish decide how long a rebuilt turbo lasts. Replacement shafts are made for specific turbo families; listings here suit Holset HT60, HT3B and HT4C turbos on Cummins NTA855, NT855 and N14 engines. Buyers compare turbine wheel diameters, blade count, shaft journal size, thread at the compressor end and material grade.
Buyer's guide
What to check
- Match the turbo model and the rotor or turbo part number.
- Check the turbine wheel inducer and exducer diameters and blade count.
- Confirm journal diameter, shaft run-out and the compressor-end thread size.
- Look for a turbine wheel cast in a heat-resistant nickel alloy.
What to ask the supplier
- Ask whether the shaft is supplied balanced, with a balance report.
- Ask for the warranty terms.
