About control arm
Track control arms and lower arms tie the wheel hub to the car body, allowing up-and-down suspension travel while holding the wheel at the right camber and caster. One end carries a ball joint to the steering knuckle, the other end rubber bushes to the subframe. Arms are made from pressed steel, forged steel or cast aluminium, and some designs use an integrated ball joint. Buyers compare vehicle fitment, side, upper or lower position, bush type, ball joint stud size and the coating that protects against corrosion.
Buyer's guide
What to check
- Match vehicle model, side (left or right) and position (upper or lower)
- Check the material: pressed steel, forged steel or cast aluminium
- Confirm the ball joint stud taper and thread size
- Look for bonded rubber bushes pressed in and a corrosion-resistant coating
What to ask the supplier
- Ask whether the ball joint and bushes come fitted
- Ask for the OEM cross-reference number
