About combi brake system

A combined braking system, often shortened to CBS, applies both front and rear brakes when the rider pulls a single lever, spreading the stopping force so the bike pulls up straighter. Indian rules require CBS or ABS on new two-wheelers, and CBS is common on scooters and commuter motorcycles. Products here include a full combi brake system and a combi brake disc assembly. Buyers compare the equaliser or delay-valve mechanism, cable or hydraulic actuation, disc size, lever ratio, model fitment and type approval under the CMVR rules.

Buyer's guide

What to check

  • Match the system to the vehicle model and engine capacity class
  • Check the actuation: cable-linked equaliser or hydraulic delay valve
  • Confirm the disc diameter and caliper mounting on disc assemblies
  • Check the front-to-rear brake force split and the lever ratio

What to ask the supplier

  • Ask for CMVR type approval documents for the vehicle model
  • Ask whether cables, levers and hardware come with the assembly
