Premium Basmati Rice under the "Basumoti" label is an extra long grain, cream-coloured 1121 basmati of the steam (parboiled) type, packed in 1kg, 5kg, 10kg and 30kg sizes and marked "XXXL" and "OLD RICE". Grown mainly in the Himalayan foothills of the Indian subcontinent, where the soil and favourable climate suit this paddy, the long grain basmati has a natural enticing aroma. Steam rice is partially precooked while the husk is still on, and this parboiling helps retain nutrients otherwise lost in refining. The rice is naturally matured for more than one year, and the grains elongate at least two and a half times on cooking into fluffy rice.
