Sharma 3 stick kandap machine for traditional pounding of dry red chilli, haldi, dhania and other dry spices, also known as a 3 bar kandap machine, mirchi kandap, dunk machine or masala chakki. Three grinding sticks pound the spice in a traditional stick-type action, an alternative to pulverizer-style grinding for spice shops, small masala makers and local processing units. The heavy-duty fabricated MS body works with standard pins and rollers, and the motor runs on a domestic single-phase supply. The pounding action produces very high noise, and the machine needs a proper foundation for stable operation. It is listed with a 1.5 HP single-phase motor at 1440 RPM on 220 V, using 1.25 Unit per hour; it is also tagged as a 2 HP kandap masala machine. Capacity is 15 Kg approx., weight is approx. 210 Kg, and operation is semi automatic. The brown frame carries the black motor on top, a belt-driven spoked flywheel, three red-handled levers above the sticks, a conical bowl with a side discharge chute and a ring holder at the side.
