Hand-knotted Kashmir silk on silk carpet SOSC-001, listed as 85x120cm, with the size given as 80 x 120 cm. It brings together two designs, qumb and Kashan, in multiple motifs: a large rust-red round medallion on a deep navy field with fine floral tracery, rosette medallions in each corner, a pale-green floral border and cream fringes at both ends. It is a rare piece among silk carpets. The whole construction and the foundation are pure silk. The piles lie at a 70 degree angle, so the colour changes from a light to a dark shade from one side to the other. The carpet is light weight.
