About battery belt
A battery belt secures the battery in its tray so it stays put over bumps and vibration, protecting terminals and cables from strain. On motorcycles and scooters it is usually a stretchable rubber strap with hooked or slotted ends, while cars, tractors and trucks often use webbing, steel bars or J-bolt clamps. Buyers compare length and width, stretch, the rubber compound and its resistance to battery acid and heat, end fitting style and the vehicle model or battery size the belt suits.
Buyer's guide
What to check
- Measure the strap length and width against the battery and tray
- Check the end fitting style: hook, slot or buckle
- Confirm the rubber compound resists battery acid, oil and engine heat
- Check stretch and recovery so the strap holds tension over time
What to ask the supplier
- Ask for the vehicle model or battery size the belt fits
- Ask for the material, such as EPDM rubber or nylon webbing
