About rubber profile
Rubber profiles are extruded strips with a fixed cross-section, cut to length or supplied in coils, that seal, cushion and edge doors, windows, panels, cabinets, vehicles and machinery. Shapes include D, P, E and U sections, bulb seals, edge trims and flat strips, in solid or sponge rubber. EPDM suits outdoor weather sealing, silicone handles heat and food areas, and neoprene or nitrile cover oil exposure. Buyers compare cross-section dimensions, hardness or sponge density, compound, temperature range, UV resistance and self-adhesive or metal-cored grip options. Fabricators and OEMs order them by the metre.
Buyer's guide
What to check
- Check the cross-section drawing and dimensions in mm against the gap to be sealed.
- Confirm the compound: EPDM for weather, silicone for heat or food contact, NBR or neoprene for oil.
- Check solid hardness in Shore A or sponge density, and the compression set.
What to ask the supplier
- Ask for the supply format: coil length or cut lengths, and vulcanised joined frames if needed.
- Ask whether self-adhesive backing or a metal-cored clip grip is offered.
