About rubber hose
Across plants, vehicles, farms and construction sites, rubber hoses carry air, water, oil, fuel, steam, chemicals and abrasive slurries. Each hose has a rubber inner tube, textile or wire reinforcement and an outer cover, and the reinforcement decides how much pressure it handles. Common types include air and water hoses, hydraulic hoses, LPG hoses, suction and delivery hoses, steam hoses and radiator hoses. Buyers compare inner diameter, working and burst pressure, temperature range, tube compound for the media, bend radius, length and end fittings. Industries order them in coils or cut lengths.

What to check
- Confirm the inner diameter, outer diameter and length per coil.
- Check the working pressure and burst pressure ratings, and the safety factor between them.
- Confirm the tube compound suits the media (NBR for oil, EPDM for water and steam) and the temperature range.
What to ask the supplier
- Ask which IS or SAE standard the hose meets for its type, such as SAE J517 for hydraulic hose.
- Ask for the reinforcement type (textile braid or spiral wire) and minimum bend radius.
- Ask whether end fittings can be crimped and pressure-tested before dispatch.
