About automotive cable
Automotive cable carries power and signals through a vehicle's wiring harness, linking the battery, lights, horn, sensors and switches. Most types bundle many fine annealed copper strands under a thin PVC jacket, and strand gauge is often quoted in SWG, with listings here running from 30 to 36 SWG. Thin-wall AVS-type insulation keeps harness bundles light and compact. Buyers compare strand count, conductor cross-section, insulation thickness, heat rating and colour coding. These cables go into two-wheeler, car, tractor and commercial vehicle harnesses, as well as auto-electrical repair work and battery connections.
Buyer's guide
What to check
- Conductor material: bare annealed copper, with strand count and strand gauge (SWG) matching the label
- Conductor cross-section in sq mm and resistance per metre for the stated size
- Insulation wall thickness and temperature rating of the PVC jacket
What to ask the supplier
- Ask which standard the cable follows, such as JASO AVS or ISO 6722
- Ask for colour options and stripe coding for harness work
- Confirm reel or coil length and packing
